Detach and play!

I have to admit that attending Truck last weekend really took it out of me. Mind you choosing to pitch my tent a few 100 metres from a rave that went on until 3pm was a stupid and rather needless thing to do.

It was the first time I’d been to the 13 year old South Oxfordshire event and I thought it was terrific. Not as serene and ordered as either Wychwood or Cornbury and it certainly has a more rustic feel to it, but that added to the atmosphere.

The catering was basic, but as it was provided by the local Rotary Club that meant it was cheap-ish. And what of the music? Well there were some great acts on show including Bellowhead, Teenage Fan Club and Mew, but I didn’t get to see much as I ended up introducing all the acts on the acoustic stage (oh get you!! ed).

This DID mean that I got to experience intimate performances by Stornoway, Danny & The Champions of The World, Thomas Truax and some storming new bands that I’ll be bringing you over the next week or so.... AND the whole thing was topped off by one of the best performances I’ve seen by The Epstein.

Verdict? Book your tickets for 2011, but take your earplugs!!

Two Fingers of Firewater, who we've featured a few times in the past, were also playing the Bob Harris Stage at Truck on the Sunday. I've bumped into them quite a few times on the 'circuit' and as well as really liking their country/pop tunes find them most affable company, despite them being complete hedonists!

This track is taken from their new album Songs To Listen To which will be out later in the year.
