Detach and play!

If you are kicking your heels this weekend and can get to North Oxfordshire without causing yourself too much physical pain and / or embarrassment then, as Adam Ant nearly once sang, unplug the jukebox and do yourself a favour and get your musical butt to The Charlbury Riverside Festival Sat 19 & Sun 20 July.

It's the smaller sibling of Cornbury and although it may not have the big names of 'posh-stock' it can still serve up the likes of Charly Coombes & The New Breed (Gaz Coombes from Supergrasses' bro) / ex-TunA featured bands Alphabet Backwards and The Black Hats / Billy Pure who sound a tad like The Waterboys / Dead Like Harry and White Stripes 'tribute' band The Stripe Whites who feature The Epstein's amazing guitarist Jon Berry.

It's in a charming setting, has a great atmosphere AND.....is 100% FREE!!

Thrill Collins (love the name) were another act I saw at Wychwood. They trade mark themselves as Cheltenham's Best Band which is quite a claim, but having seen them play thrice now I'm not going to argue that much!

They cover material from the 80's & 90's, have been described as 'Like Phil Collins, but more thrilling' and, as you can hear today, can even make Lady in Red sound half decent!!

Give us your track reactions
