Irish Turkey
I've never been a big fan of Eurovision ever since I was forced to 'perform' the UK's 1983 effort as the opening to a rather shoddy piece of children's theatre I was involved in*, but I have express regret that the competition's creditability has taken a complete nose dive with the news that Ireland's entry for this year is to be sung by a turkey (and I don't mean Chris de Burgh)!!Given the country's past successes (4 wins '92-'96) I'd have thought they wouldn't want to be seen denigrating this venerable institution, but apparently Dustin the Turkey is massive the other side of the Irish Sea and won the vote by a landslide. I can hear it now - 'earlund nul pwant'
Even I can't bring myself to let you hear it so you'll have to go a find it yourselves!!!!
I can't see New Cassettes rushing to be Britain's entry for Eurovision somehow, what with them making such an impression in the UK new wave scene at the moment. This is their latest single.

Big Ade
* whilst struggling actors, myself and a certain West End theatre producer (who shall remain nameless, but you know who you are Richard Porter oh bugger) were made to dress up in satin running shorts and singlets and recreate Never Giving Up by a poor man's Bucks Fizz called Sweet Dreams. Alas no footage is available of our effort but if you want to know how the original went CLICK HERE
