This is a great song particularly the narrative lyric, which I loved.

Looking at the line up of one Spaniard on guitar, a Ugandan bassist and Zimbabwean drummer, it's not so disappointing that the sound has really nothing to do with the singer's birthplace.

This is a post Marley, international Caribbean pop with it's American influences on it's sleeve and delivered in a London accent.

I know several White Africans, their identity has much less cool street cred than Black Africans born in say London or Paris. So I sort of wish he'd imprinted his music with a bit of Ju Ju guitar style or the vocal harmonies of the streets of Jo'burg.

Listening to this changed my mind about who should win the Mercury Prize. These 4 lads from Kendal come across like a cross between The Smiths, Joy Division and Talking Heads. Hypnotic and utterly great. CD £5 inc. p&p / Download £6.95
