Although the country scene is still dominated by the ultra conservative, Christian right, much of the great material (Johnny Cash, Dolly, Emmylou Harris etc) from this genre is concerned with transgression.
I love the atmosphere of this, love the groove, particularly the guitar work, but it doesn't really progress musically even though the scene gets more steamy. She has a wonderfully penetrating voice.

Graceland era Paul Simon and Vampire Weekend are evoked in this jaunty album from East Anglia. Afro-pop beats meet smart lyrics. CD £9.99 inc. p&p / Download £6.99
