Your musings if you please.

There's a touch of Lilly Allen about the vocal delivery, particularly the overstated breathing. The electronic work is beautiful particularly that hybrid vocal riff at the beginning and the later backing vocal treatments. I feel a little uncomfortable with the way the lead vocal is sort of stuck on. It's all a bit pretty for my taste.

Sorry, forgot!
When listing Aussie bands of the 80's I think not to list INXS is a bit of an omission but do you remember the synth boppers Icehouse? Only a one hit wonder in the UK "Hey LittleGirl" is rather good.

OMG INXS Mr C - how could I've forgotten them!! Now they WERE a good band.

Thanks for the reminder of Hey Little Girl. Reminds me of 80's Roxy Music.

I see why you describe this track as on a different level to the last. It has some quite startling elements.

I think the touch of originality in their music makes them stand out.

1980's Australian bands? Boys Next Door changed their name to the Birthday Party in 1980. Now there was a band...

What started as a dig at the lack of decent music from Oz in the 80's has now become a stark reminder to me that actually there WAS plenty :-)
