Stephen's album is a phenomenon. He has included every conceivable style and I think it is intended as a calling card for work as a session player.

Brilliant though he is I cannot find it comfortable listening.

I've no idea what the criteria for choosing the album cover, none really makes much sense to me as supreme examples of the art.

I agree with you 100% about SDP's album - it IS a showcase, but a very interesting one.

Re the stamps; listening to Front Row on Radio 4 the other night it would seem that an album from different decades and genres were the criteria. They also had to be by UK artists.

Have they done good? Probably not. You would think you'd have to have a Yes cover in there somewhere.

Here are some others to stoke the fire of debate

Wonderful track. I shall spend the rest of the day listening to Johnny Winter...

I've NEVER liked 'em. Drippy, over-hyped and dull.

Can't agree with you about unsigned blues bands being in short supply. For a kickoff I'll see you at the Bullingdon in Oxford on Monday 1st Feb to see the very excellent Pete Boss. Plenty there to see on other Monday nights.

Last year's Linton Festival near Ross on Wye was outstanding. Key Frances turned up from the USA and was incredible. The Vulnerable Things and Connie Lush and Blues Shouter were pretty damned good too.

And one of the best....The Stumble. Live...they are very very good indeed.

I could go on and probably will at some point...
