What an odd hybrid? I instinctively fell for the mallet percussion and then in comes a shouty bloke chorus? OK a David Sylvian sound-alike would be too obvious.

The lyric writing is basic and there are a couple of places where the voice reaches up for a note that is not quite available.

It's a deep voice and should be going down, not up, make the most of it.
