Brilliant - I love this! After hearing it I listened to 'Turn, Turn, Turn' so I could be sure just how close this is - it's an updated Byrds all right. Of course, Andy had nailed it before I got here!!

In some ways the MySpace stuff worries me even more than this track. The tracks are much more country but it does sound like a tribute band. One exception. Their version Of Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down is magnificent (no rehash of Violent Femmes). Definitely worth seeing live on that evidence. (edit to say Lonely and The Rest is rather a good listen as well)
Maybe I'm being too precious - many Americans probably don't think Canadians can play Country.
Looking forward to The Epstein...

I have a vested interest as I'm involved with the band, but would like to record our thanks for all the comments here and to those who gave us such a good reception at the Riverside Festival last weekend.
As a band we're moving away from our country rock roots (our reference points are The Byrds - as correctly noted - Flying Burritos Bros, GP, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco) and developing our own sound.
However, we do tip our hat musically in passing to the Faces, Who, Stones, John Sebastian and others.
After summer festivals and a tour with Detroit rockers the Deadstring Brothers in September, we're holing up in our own studio for the autumn months to record our next CD.
There will still be some twang, but expect to hear a much more developed rockin' sound when we emerge.
Thanks for listening.

Part Two ...
One of our great pleasures this year was to tour the UK with Al Perkins, American pedal steel genius who has played with GP, FBB, Rolling Stones, Emmylou Harris - even Dolly Parton and Bob Dylan (though not at the same time).
We played a lot of his back catalogue, songs he's either played live or recorded on, and the result was a fantastic learning experience. He got on famously with our own 'steeler' Alex.
We're thrilled to be playing again with him and his band the Big Dog 3 at the Maverick Festival, Suffolk, on 4th July and at the Luminaire in London on 13th July.

I'm deeply jealous of anyone who is *not* on the other side of the Atlantic and is close enough to get to that gig! Never mind - I'll look forward to the new album. :)
