Like this, or would you stick 2 fingers up?

Andy Cordy

It's the Byrds and L.A / San Francisco pop I think of on listening to this. I wouldn't have known they were from Guildford but I'd have known they weren't "Country". "Turn Turn Turn" by Pete Seger is a model for thousands of contemporary bands , just hear those jangling 12 strings arpeggios. The pitch of the vocal is dodgy in places but it sounds like a fun live set.

Like this a lot ....chirpy cheery and chunky in measure. Yes indeed Mr Cordy, very "Turn Turn Turn" and also a bit "Fantastic day" for me too, the guitar just reminds me of it...certainly my fave so far .....hava good day, innit. RHM

Yeah, nice. I'm not a country music fan and wouldn't put this song in that category, more folky, I'd say. Love the band name.

Yes when you said country my ears weren't ready for this. Andy is right about the Byrds sound. Am going to investigate further as I liked it whatever it is and I like a bit of country as long as it doesn't involve anyone named Garth.

I listen to an awful lot of Country - although I tend towards the Alt and Gothic end of the spectrum. Country is all about authenticity. It is music from the heart, often born from sadness but with the occasional party along the way.

Any band from Guildford starts with a big disadvantage of not being American. If you sing with an American accent then you are faking it but it doesn't sound Country if you don't. You have to be really good like The Broken Family Band to get over this barrier and not sound like you are copying a style in a tribute band kind of way.

I think Johnny Cash would tell you that the Country thing to do is be honest to yourself and your history. Take the jangle, take the rhythms but don't pretend to be an American. To my ears, Two Fingers Of Firewater have a nice way with guitars and melody but don't set my Cowboy Boots a-tappin'

Like I said to Mr. C Coolnoise have a listen to some of their other stuff, which does have more of a twang, but I agree at best they are country lite.
