Stunning. They have returned to the guitar witha vengance.

When I first heard them a few years ago I took a while to get used Del Alien's voice and his phrasing. Now I regard him as one of the real original vocalists. In case you're interested, I think he really does hate the world as much as he says.

But they are a lot of fun at Christmas, by the way. They sent me a card that had the two of them in Christmas hats and scrawled on the front were the words "Please kill us". Made me laugh.

There's some interesting rhythmic things created by the atmospheric keyboards but harmonically it could be more diverse, a touch of Einstürzende Neubauten/Blixa Bargeld or early Cure, would be good for that. The pace could do with some work too, atmosphere and frenetic energy only work in careful juxtaposition. I don't like the non-consensual/mysogyny suggested in the chorus, something that Cave is very educated in. Wish I'd been at Latitude for the "Grinderman" set.

It's uncomfortable listening, but it's certainly music that grabs your attention. Nice to hear from you coolnoise - don't be a stranger to the forum and try to make the launch gig on the 24th if you can.
