What's your best and worst cover version?

Don't know about it being a cover version, but I heard a tune (if I can call it that) of Depeche Mode 'Personal Jesus' but with some sort of female Rap lyric over the top.

In fact, any of those overdub songs are truly awful and their perpetrators should be hung, drawn and quartered and fed to lions.

(Sorry - was woken up by a pneumatic drill at 7.30 .... )

A truly awful cover is 'Sea of Love' by the otherwise excellent Cat Power. She has such a great voice and I imagine could do a superb cover but instead chooses to accompany herself on an apparently out of tune zither (or some such). Grim.

I'm reading a biog of the splendid John Martyn atm, which has got me listening to all his albums again (not that they ever gather much dust anyway)- he covers Portishead's Glory Box and the Billie Holliday classic Strange Fruit with real soul.
