I would really love this except for one thing - the vocal style is one I have a very hard time with. I don't think it's 'wrong' or that songstresses should not sound like this. It's just that while one part of my brain is really enjoying the evocative musical quality, my hand is absently reaching out to turn down that voice.

I totally understand Sara's reaction. Regina Spektor gets away with it because she's very clever at turning off the annoying bit just as one is about to go bananas and the songs are dangerous, here I'm not so sure. It's like milkshake that's a bit too sweet and you're noot sure if you're going to keep it down.

Well I've had 7 or 8 of this milkshake and don't feel it the slightest bit sick :-)

I've never really listened to Jean Michel Jarre so I dunno about him. But if I imagine the vocal removed from this it does not sound at all like Mike Oldfield! I know because I endured many hours of Mike Oldfield courtesy of a school room mate who bought Tubular Bells and played it every morning before breakfast for weeks.

(I'd just prefer a different vocal, actually.)
