House was an obsession with the majors for a while and if your tape (ha ha!) wasn't "House" it went in the bin at the A&R department without being listened to.
I wonder if this is the same with Rap. A lot of thought and hard work has gone into the making of this number. The lyric is thoughtful and largely unthreatening.
I find it powerful but not really exciting.

Wonderful bass sound, some great guitar work and a neat overall sound.
Not sure if this really has much to do with Rap other than using the stylistic rhythms of vocal delivery - doing for Rap what 10cc did for Reggae

Actually I love Dreadlock Holiday - but don't think it did was 'real' Reggae and in the same way I do really like this track but don't think it is 'real' Rap.
I think this need to examine authenticity comes from obsessions developed during Punk...
