What do you think of this English American?

Just listened to this again I realized it has a very Van Morrison feel to it.

Personally, I've never been a Van Morrison admirer and I think this track stands in sharp contrast to the other samples in the video (I particularly liked the sinister opening of his version of "Norwegian Wood"The last sample with Hurdy Gurdy and Flute is a freak out!).
There are some clever lyrics and some I can't stomach (Rhyming man with again, even in CanadianAmerican is crap) it is an interesting premise for a song but the sound is poorly balanced.
He's a big talent, though if he's going to really sell albums he'll need to prove his worth in the studio. Getting the band out on the road is the best way forward as he is already proving. Who needs a major?

I'm fond of early Van Morrison (the music not the man) and this did have a flavour of that, but also curiously of Leo Sayer and even Jackson Brown. In the end he is himself and very enjoyable. Some of the lyric is a bit arch, but so nice to hear a brain ticking away in there.
